Guess Who's Moving?

The firm Belle has been interviewing with offered her the position! I am so excited for her and terribly proud. It's going to be a huge change and it's amazing to see her go after what she deserves and get it. These kids of mine, they're all such hard workers, and watching them finally get to enjoy the fruits of their labour makes my heart sing.

Her starting date is October 19th, so she's flying out next week to find an apartment, flying back to work out her current jobs, pack her apartment, and then her and the cat will drive off to their new home in a new province. Thank goodness for good big brothers: McHeaty is going down to help her move. He had a really difficult, huge move in a serious time-crunch of his own last September and got no help from people who should have helped. He said he doesn't want her to feel that way, so he'll be carrying the heavy shit and following her in a U-Haul. Aside from the practical help, Mama is relieved she won't be making the drive solo because her car is almost older than me. (Calling new-ride news within three months.) I think we'll need to get a t-shirt made for her brother as a thank you. I have just the right one in mind.

Last week, before her second interview, she texted me a pic with the caption: "My supervisor has given approval for the Zoom meeting."

I'm going to suggest her supervisor have a bit of Gravol for the trip. Bella Chanel is a born and bred BC baby. I've done that drive through the mountains many times, often with Belle navigating, in eleven hours flat - but not caravaning with a U-Haul. Surely, she'll sing the song of her people for her Mama? The way a cat named Zoom did when Belle and I made the drive moving from Ontario to BC in 2012 and we had five cats and two dogs with us. The memory of my daughter saying, "One day I'm going to look back at this and be inspired to do crazy things even when it's stressful (AF)" is burned into my soul. Never doubt this: the student surpassed the teacher a long time ago. You inspire me. Make sure you've got our tune on the playlist to crank, babygirl, and leave that town in your rearview mirror. Your work there is done and new adventure awaits!
